"Democrats typically outnumber Republicans at elite universities by at least six to one among the general faculty, and by higher ratios in the humanities and social sciences. In a 2007 study of both elite and non-elite universities, Dr. Gross and Dr. Simmons reported that nearly 80 percent of psychology professors are Democrats, outnumbering Republicans by nearly 12 to 1."

Apparently this is driving the Conservatives nuts and while they seem to be in pretty good shape, they always manage to claim that they are the victims these days in a progressive society.  They are already talking about discrimination but has anyone ever bothered to think that the reason this is so is simply because Republicans/Conservatives have simply driven away all the intellectuals and all they have left with are teabaggers or other crazies who want to go back to the way they lived in Biblical times, teach creationism instead of evolution, and turn guns into toys.

…the Department of Homeland Security sees the Gallup/Harris poll results (a full 37 percent of American citizens are incapable of identifying their home country on a map of the United States.) as a blessing in disguise. According to Secretary Michael Chertoff, the nation would be better off if these numbers skewed even higher. “Personally, I believe if fewer people in this world could spot America on a map, we’d have a much better chance of avoiding national tragedies like 9/11,” said Chertoff. “You can’t attack a country you can’t find.”

What kind of a stupid response is that from Secretary Chertoff? Does he know that Mumbai terrorists used the most sophisticated technology to plan and conduct their attacks? The reality is that people with sick minds will also do the hard work to do harm.

In any case, this survey shows how much improvement we need to make in our schools.
