I like to think that terrorists (who almost always want to hurt innocent civilians) are illiterate, stupid, morons who have no idea what they are doing except being driven by intense hate for some thing.

To my utter shock, the terrorists who tried to detonate a bomb in Glasgow were so educated, it is scary to think that people with so sharp brains can be so screwed up.

Khafeel Ahmed was a doctoral candidate in engineering.  Bilal Abdulla is a doctor.  Mohammed Asha (though acquitted) is trainee neurosurgeon.
