Whalewatching

Being in the New England area, we are lucky that we can go whalewatching easily, but like most busy people, we never made it happen.  However, it was on our to-do list for years, and the right time came through one of those Groupon deals from Captain John Whalewatch tours starting from Plymouth, Massachusetts into Cape Cod.

On an August day that couldn’t get better for being on the water, we set sail after lunch.  The whole trip takes around four hours, and we forgot to ask before we boarded, so my advice would be to confirm this before going.  If we had known this, we would have packed healthier snacks and bought our own drinking water.

Other than that the boat ride is very smooth and these folks make sure that you see the whales.  We were lucky to see so many of them that day that at one point all the whales in Cape Cod conspired to perform a show for all the boats.  You can get really close to them.  Definitely recommended for anyone who loves animals.

Honda CRV

Like the selection of a HDTV, the choice of the car was overwhelming for both Lorena and I.  We simply did not have the time to do the digging of data and reviews even though we were not happy with our Mazda 626, which with over 180,000 miles was starting to give us trouble.

We are just two people so we did not need a huge car but we wanted to have a car that we could bring our shopping in easily.  Due to the snow in our area, we also wanted a car that would be able to get out through several inches of snow.  While I have always owned sedans, this time we were looking at SUVs since there are so many of them around now that it is painful not to be able to see above them from a sedan.

Within our budget we looked at Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, Chevy Tranverse, GM Terrain and Ford Focus.  After we completed our online research, we concluded that the Honda CRV was our best option.

Also for the first time, instead of buying, we chose to lease our car.  Definitely a more expensive proposition but it allows us to have a new car after just three years.  Hopefully, during this period we will not need to bother with any breakdowns.

While we found that the interior of the auto is a bit less luxurious than our previous cars, overall we are very happy with our decision.  It is a great family car and is exactly what we were looking for.
